About How To Skate
Founded in Byron Bay, Australia in 2018, How To Skate is dedicated to providing the highest level online coaching for skateboarders from beginners to pros. Pete Adams is an ASF Qualified Level 2 Skateboard Coach with 25 years skateboarding experience. Originally from England, he was a sponsored skateboarder for a number of companies including Enuff Skateboards, Osiris Shoes, King Apparel, Campus Skatepark. Throughout his time as a sponsored skater he went on tours, entered competitions including the British Championships, had photos and interviews in magazines, and provided skate demo’s and instruction for kids around the country.
Skateboarding has provided Pete so many great opportunities including travel, mentors, friends and work experience. Skateboarding has the opportunity to be such a positive influence in your life, Pete felt it was time to share his knowledge and help others to Skate better.
In 2018 he began sharing his insights and progressing his own knowledge and has since worked with everyone from beginners, to Olympic pathway athletes skating at global Olympic qualifier events, to professional skaters on some of the worlds biggest brands. He is a Director of Athlete Development and Management for ESM Australia and runs How To Skate as a way to support more skaters in their progression journey.
Pete is currently still a sponsored skater, currently riding for Street Machine and working on a video part to release in 2024.

Are you qualified to coach skateboarding?
Yes. I’m an ASF (Australian Skateboarding Federation) Qualified Level 2 Skateboard Coach. The ASF, is Australia’s national Skateboarding representative body and provide the highest level of coaching qualifications. Level 2 is currently the highest qualification available. I’ve been coaching for 6 years and have worked with some of the best athletes in Australia skating in Olympic World Street Qualifying events and riding for some of the biggest global brands.
I can’t skate but want to learn, can I?
Of Course! Anyone can learn if they’re willing. We can break the tricks down into manageable steps to help event the most nervous person get skating.
Am I too old to learn to skateboard?
Not if you want to. Anyone can learn to skateboard. Check out Neal Unger the 60 year old skateboarder, Or Marcelo Lusardi The Blind Rider, Still not convinced? What about not being able to use your legs like Pro Skateboarder Italo Romano.
Why Coaching?
I aim to create the knowledge I wish I’d had when I was a younger sponsored skater. Give people the opportunity and information to skate in a better way, improve better and be healthier.
Do you mentor sponsored skaters?
Yes. A professional skateboarding career is hardly a skill taught in school and can be a very difficult thing to navigate successfully. I’m bringing my knowledge from 20 years of skateboarding, sponsorship experience and a wealth of knowledge in fitness, nutrition and more.
